Gale Murray

gale murray

As the spring sun shone in the morning sky on Sunday, May 1, 2022 — joyous praise resounded in the heavens as Gale Murray entered the gates of the Kingdom to meet her Savior face-to-face. A moment she had lived her whole life for, a moment when she heard, “Well done my good and faithful servant!”

She was married to Jerry Murray (9/12/39 – 9/23/15) for 54 years. Her legacy of encouragement to sing praises to the Lord and honor Him above all else lives on in her three children Jennifer (Roger) Bradley, Leslie (Travis) May, and Jerry (Donna) Murray.

The sound of her laughter echoes through her seven grandchildren: Alexandra (Matthew) Ingle, Adrienne Bradley, Whitney (Joe) Hovater, Mackenzie May (Matt), Dakota (London) Murray, Madison Murray, Sydney Murray and her ten great-grandchildren.

Her joy was contagious and spread around the world through her dedication and love for the Lord, giving her all to fulfill the great commission. Her heart for missions was seen through her decades of leading many ministries with passion and creativity: GAs, Acteens, WMU the Embrace Women’s Ministry, international missions, JOY Class Sunday School, and others. She will undoubtedly be greeted by those in heaven whose lives were forever changed by her service from the halls of Newfound Baptist Church to the farthest corners of the world.

Her love of all things travel was evident in her adventures across the globe from Israel to Ireland but time around the picnic table spent with family and friends was her favorite thing of all. A house filled with cheerful laughter and love was where the most cherished memories were made.

She is now able to rejoice in heaven with her mother and father Joel and Martha Ferguson, her siblings Mark and Janice Ferguson, and her granddaughter Ashlie-Nicole Bradley. Her memory continues on through her sister Becky (Steve) Ford and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor the memory of Gale Murray may consider making a donation to the Missions Fund, at Newfound Baptist Church.

There will be a celebration service to honor her life on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Newfound Baptist Church. Receiving of friends will begin at 10:00 am followed by a service at 11:30 am.

  4. Gale and I started our friendship as judges at Leicester Community Center for Buncombe County Elections. Always looked forward to seeing her. Had a beautiful smile and kind words for everyone. She was a joy to serve with each election. She always talked about her family and was so proud of each member. She loved her church and its people and you knew she walked with the Lord. We lost touch in the last few years when I moved but I will always remember her with such fondness. You her family have my deepest sympathy.

  5. Jerry, Jennifer, Leslie and family.
We were saddened to hear of the passing of Ms. Gale. Many precious memories of our times together at Newfound. Her joyful spirit will be remembered forever. Our prayer is that the Lord will hold the family tightly as He walks with all of you through this difficult season in life. May your days ahead be blessed with wonderful memories.

  7. Gale loved the Lord, her family and all at Newfound Baptist Church. She was a kind and spirit filled lady that filled everyone with her warmth. Gale knew her bible and advised me many times with her wisdom. She was one of the most hard working ladies that had the ability to do many things and do them all well. It was an honor to have known her. Gale has now spoken to her Lord, seen His face and is rejoicing in His presence.
