Garrien William Wilson, Jr.
Garrien William Wilson, Jr., 73, of Asheville, passed away,
Monday, May 1, 2006 at his residence.
A native of McDowell County, he was the son of the late
Garrien William Wilson, Sr. and Mabel Moore Wilson. He was also
preceded in death by a son, Garrien William Wilson III.
Mr. Wilson retired as a Senior Driver License Instructor for the
Department of Motor Vehicles and was a member of Kenilworth
Presbyterian Church.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce and an active adult leader for
the Daniel Boone Council Boy Scouts of America and Young Eagle
Scouts.
Surviving are his son, Charles Johnathann Wayne Wilson of
Asheville; two daughters, Brenda Davis and Allison Gates both of
Asheville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Friday at Kenilworth
Presbyterian Church with the Revs. John David Stewart and Jay
Raybuck officiating.
Groce Funeral Home Patton Ave. are assisting with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Daniel Boone Council
333 W. Haywood St. Asheville, NC 28801.
i am his grandson, and i loved the man even though we where not that close. i got to know him in his last years and he was a great man!

Bill made me laugh during my first days with DMV and he helped me develope a positive attitude. I am thankful to call him FRIEND.
Bill and I worked together in the early 1950’s. He was a pleasant person to be around and always seemed to have a smile. I’m sorry for his passing and my condolences to his family.
