Gary and I go back 44 years to the 10th grade in high school at Reynolds. He was a true, true friend. What made Gary special was that we stayed in touch all those years. He gave me a lot of advice in a lot of things and I gave him a little advice along the way. He was like my Dad. He gave much and expected little. To Christie, Kimberly, Crystal, and Ted my deepest sympathy. I loved Gary and look forward to seeing him again in Glory.
I never had the privelege of meeting Mr. Sorrells, however he & I exchanged emails several times. I always enjoyed looking at his websites, especially the new WNCPS. He did a wonderful job on each of them. Mr. Sorrells seemed like a great person. My prayers are with his family, friends, and brothers in law enforcement. May God Bless each of you.

Christie, you and the family are in my thoughts and prayers. Gary will be missed by many. Take care of yourself now.
Dearest Gary: You have been gone almost a year now but your memory is as strong as ever. I think of you every day. I wish we were going to the Bristol race together in March. But, you are in no pain now and have the best seat in the house. Take care, my friend. I will see you again.
Please accept my condolences on the passing of Gary. I was only able to work with him here at Rockwell for a short time but he was always helpful and put a smile on your face. I will miss him.
Sincerely
We knew Gary when he worked at the Sheriffs Office and also at the VA Hospital. He was a good man and a good officer. He will be missed by all that knew and worked with him.

Christi and family, I am so sorry for your loss. It was a blessing getting to know Gary and yourselves and to take care of him for a short while on 10th floor; I am just sorry it had to be under the circumstance of his illness. Please know you are in my prayers. Renea

CHRISTIE, YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE IN MY PRAYERS.KEEP THE FAITH. LOVE, EMMA
I never had the opportunity to know your family, Christie, as I moved away from Asheville in 1957. I am from the next older generation…Ginny Willis Sorrells was my first cousin…her father, Charlie Willis, was my uncle. I am saddened at another relative’s death but I can only imagine the joyful reunion in heaven a few days ago as another saint of God arrived home to be with our Lord forever. I will get to know your husband out in the wideness of eternity.
Please know that your family is in my prayers as you celebrate Gary’s homegoing.
Gary was more than a coworker. He was a dear friend. Often he gave without expecting return. He often listened instead of just offering opinions or advice. And his cheerful attitude always lightened my day. I will miss Gary and I look forward to being in his presence again one day. It was my pleasure to have known Gary. I know he with our Lord Jesus Christ now – safe and having fun. God Bless!
Its been 3 yrs now. Gary is my dad. I miss him so much! But i know he is in Heaven walking the streets of gold with our Lord Jesus Christ. I love him and miss him dearly, i know we will be together again soon.
Love you brother. Can’t believe it has been 11 years. Your memory never fades. It grows stronger. We will meet again.
Happy Birthday, Gary. 70 years old today. I always remember your birthday was three years after D-Day in WWII. Not a day goes by that I do not think of you and the good times we had. We will meet again. Take care, Brother
