  1. The day God called you home

    God looked around his garden
And He found an empty place.
He then looked down upon this earth,
    And saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you
    And lifted you to rest.
    God’s garden must be beautiful
    He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain
He knew that you would never
    Get well on earth again.

He saw that the road was getting rough.
And the hills are hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids
    And whispered ‘Peace be thine’.

It broke our hearts to lose you
    But you didn’t go alone
For part of us went with you
That day that God called you home

  2. I am free

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following paths God made for me
I took his hand, I heard him call
Then turned, and bid farewell to all

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to sing, to play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found my peace … at close of play

And if my parting left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy
    A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened… deep with sorrow
I wish you sunshine of tomorrow
My life’s been full I’ve savoured much
    Good friends, good times
    A loved one’s touch

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee
    God wanted me now
    He set me free.

I am very sorry for your loss, just let me say that Gary is at peace now and at home with God. I will always remember my best friend in the world, thou the years and time had let us drift apart i still considerd Gary my closest and dearest friend.Growing up next door to each other and spending as much time at your house as i did my own.I have been thinking of all the great times we had together down thru the years from running around the neighborhood to being in each others weddings.Gary was always there when i needed him ,he was the one person i could count on.I will miss him bad and he will always be in my thoughts. There is not enough room here for me to tell all the fun we had from playing ball to being in the scouts together. Gary my friend i will miss you. Mattie and Debbie lean on the Lord and he will supply all the grace you need from this day on. John Sparks

  4. My fondest memories of my cousin Gary are from when we were all kids. Used to love visiting at Uncle Charles and Aunt Mattie Lou’s house. Playing out back with Debbie and Gary around the covered picnic area that Charles built was really fun. I can imagine the big smile Gary had when he saw Jesus and was met there in Heaven by Charles, Scott, Grandma and Grandpaw Dean and all the other family gone before. We will be praying for all of you Mattie and Debbie.

  5. I am sorry to hear about your loss. I worked with Gary at the garage. I enjoyed the times he would come into the office and talk. I was glad I got to see him last year around Christmas. He will be missed.

  6. I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I knew Gary for sixteen years and worked with him through Buncombe County Schools. I will always remember his sweet smile, his good sense of humor and him always being there to help others before helping himself. You will be sadly missed. May you now Rest in Peace my dear friend.
