Gary Wayne Brooks, Sr., 75, of Asheville, died Sunday, September 27, 2015, at the StoneCreek Health and Rehab Center. A native of Haywood Co., he was a son of the late Charles and Alva McClure Brooks. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Randall "Clint" Bradford in August, 2015. Mr. Brooks was a hardworking man. He loved fishing, being at the lake, boating, and any activities outdoors. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Swannanoa Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving are his devoted former wife, Dorothy Brooks of Asheville; daughter, Tina Floyd and husband Joe of Black Mountain; sons, Gary "Wayne" Brooks, Jr. of Asheville, Kenneth Brooks (Lisa) of Swannanoa, and Michael "Bruce" Brooks of Asheville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Mary Lynne Brooks Keene and husband Nick of Thomasville, NC; and brother Joseph Brooks and wife Terri of Senaca, SC. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Rd., with the Rev. Frank Cantrell officiating. Interment will follow at Skyview Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Due to his love of animals, memorials may be made to Brother Wolf, PO Box 8195, Asheville, NC, 28814. Flowers are also appreciated.

  6. Well its something to do ur uncle justice. I remember playing head to head football with my uncle Gary and the boys. I remember camping with my uncle which resulted in my awesome ability to chase him for a mile or two with a snake rushed n hand! I also remember his attention to cooking the most perfect Boston butt on the planet. He had a way cool GTO AND TRIED HIS BEST TO BE A GREAT HUSBAND AND FATHER! I LOV THAT MAN AND WILL ALWAYSE BE THANKFULL I KNEW HIM. Lov you uncle GARY! MAY PEACE BE WITH YOU AND FIND HAPPINESS IN THE LORD!
