GENE A. WARD Gene A. Ward, 62, of 1450 Old Highway No. 20, Alexander, died Friday, December 29, 2000, at his home. Mr. Ward was born in Gastonia and was a son of the late Joe and Dorothy Waldrop Ward. He was a truck driver retired from Asheville Bit and Steel. Surviving are his wife, Barbara J. Ward; two daughters, Waynette Davis and Wendy Norvell of Asheville; two sons, Jeff Ward and Joey Ward of Asheville; five grandchildren and three brothers, Roger, Rodney and David Ward. No services are scheduled at this time. His family will be at the residence and request that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue is assisting the family.
