George Henry Parker, 91, of Candler, died Monday, September 14, 2015, at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late James Virgil Parker, Sr., and Annie Bowlin Parker. He was also preceded in death by sisters Virgie Stubbs, Frances Stubbs, and Pauline Parker, and brothers J.V. Parker, Jr., and Porter Parker. Mr. Parker was a Veteran of the 805th Army Air Force. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Hilda McFee Parker; sons, Eric Parker and wife Vicki, and Craig Parker and wife Amy; sisters Ruth Penley, Barbara Rogers, and Peggy Powell; and brother Clarence Parker. Graveside services for Mr. Parker will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
