George Robert White, Sr., 90, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at the CarePartners Solace Center.
A native of Henderson Co., George was a son of the late Dave and Barnice Farmer White. He was also preceded in death by his son, Daniel “Danny” Warren White.
George served in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 20 years of service. He then worked for Square D for 22 years. He was a member of Enka Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Eva Volna Childress White; sons, Chester “Chuck” White (Renee) and George Robert White, Jr.; daughter, Mary Carmack (Ron); and brother, Joseph White. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Josh White, Mary Montcastle, Caitlin Fletcher, Amanda White, Jason White, Jennifer White, Tim Carmack, Rene Brooks and Brian Carmack; step-children, Tim Bishop and Brenda DeArmond; a number of great-grandchildren; and his dear friend, Roger Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11 in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with Rev. Chris Reese officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

So very sorry to hear about George. We worked together in maintenance at Square D. He was a good man. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
Remembering George from our years at Square D. He was very highly admired for his skills, but even more for his genuinely gracious demeanor and dedication to his fellow employees and the good of the company. My condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time.
