Georgia Eleanor Murray

Georgia Eleanor Murray, 64, of 31 Brookshire Road, Leicester, died Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Mission Hospital. A life long resident of Buncombe County, she was born October 4, 1946, to George Finley Murray and Reva Brookshire Murray. Eleanor was a graduate of Erwin High School. She received a BA degree from the University of North Carolina, Asheville, and a MA degree from Western Carolina University, Cullowhee. For several years, she taught school in Buncombe County. In order to take care of her mother, she stayed home and became a writer, mostly of children's stories. She was a member of Beverly Hills Baptist Church. She was the paternal granddaughter of James Wiley Murray and Daisy Hanes Murray and the maternal granddaughter of Robert Nelson Brookshire and Maggie Smith Brookshire. She was preceded in death by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Survivors are an aunt, Maxine Brookshire of Leicester, and several cousins. Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at Green Hills Cemetery. The Rev. Stan Welch will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
