Georgia M. Matthews

Georgia M. Matthews Fletcher – Georgia M. Matthews, 93, of Fletcher, died Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Elizabeth House. A native of Rockbridge County, VA, she was a daughter of the late George and Myrtle Dudley Miller. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Matthews, Jr. who died in 2003 as well as a son, Thomas Moss, Jr. She is survived by two sons, Bruce Matthews and his wife, Kathy, of Asheville and Paul Matthews, also of Asheville; one daughter, Sandra Williams and her husband, Dennis, of McKinney, TX, as well as eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. A family and friends gathering to celebrate Georgia's life will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in the fellowship hall of Mills Gap Baptist Church of which she was a charter member. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a memorial contribution in Georgia's memory to the Alzheimer's Association (alzfdn.org). Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
