Georgie Rust Bishop

Georgia Rust Bishop, of Asheville, died Tuesday, October 10, 2000 in a local nursing facility. A native of Olmstead, KY, she lived most of her life in Buncombe County. She was the daughter of the late Hickman and Blanche Farmer Rust and foster-daughter of the late James H. and Ida Rust Boren. She was also preceded in death by her husband D.F. Bishop who died in 1979 and a son James F. Bishop who died in 1993. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Her survivors include a daughter Geana B. Rollins of Asheville; a son C. Lewis Bishop of Vicksburg, MS; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Green Hills Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin will officiate. Her family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 531 Haywood Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.
