Arden ~ Gladys Scott Whittemore Brownell, 81, of Flesher’s Fairview Nursing Home and formerly of Pappy’s Place in Arden died on Monday, April 16, 2007.
Born in Bryson City, she was the daughter of the late E.W. Metcalf and Magnolia Evans Metcalf and was pre-ceded in death by two husbands, James Belton Scott and Lance B. Whittemore and a daughter, Cynthia Whittemore. She was a licensed practical nurse and a member of Fletcher First Baptist Church.
She is survived by four daughters, Linda Hopkins and husband Wayne of Wellford, SC, Dinah Ingle and husband Charles of Arden, Joyce Burley and husband Larry of Moultrie, GA and Angela Whittemore of Black Mountain; two sons, Chris Scott and wife Kathy of Leicester and Lattie Whittemore and wife Kellie of Arden; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Roberts Memorial Park with the Rev. Roy Waldroup officiating.
The family will receive Wednesday from 5:30 – 7:00 P.M. at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road.
