Grace Bowman Hill

Grace B. Hill, 67, of Asheville, died Friday, March 9, 2007 at her residence. A native of Bakersville, NC, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Nora Rose Bowman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Hill, who died in 2005 and two brothers, Leon Bowman and Jim Bowman. Mrs. Hill graduated from Bowman High School in Mitchell County and was a nurse at the VA Medical Center for 24 years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and of the West Asheville chapter of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. She was also a member of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Indians. She is survived by two sons, William Lee Hill and his wife, Robbi of Candler, Robert Ray Hill and his life partner, Mark Arrington of Asheville; two sisters, Shirley Greene and her husband, Don of Robbinsville, NC and Ida Elliott of Robbinsville, NC; two brothers, Sonny Bowman and his wife, Connie of Bakersville, NC and Jack Bowman of Robbinsville and two grandchildren, Christy Hill of Asheville and Jackie Hill of Candler. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue with the Reverend Dr. Buddy Corbin and Deacon Bruce Farlow officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
