It is with a heavily broken heart that we announce the unexpected passing of Gregory Eugene Roberts on December 4, 2025. Greg was born 59 years ago in Buncombe County to the late Mary Helen (Hollifield) and George Dewey Roberts Jr.
Greg was a graduate of Enka High School and Asheville-Buncombe Technical College where he got a degree in Diesel Mechanics. He worked for 37 years at PSNC, most recently as an inspector. Greg was a hard worker. He enjoyed planting a big garden, enough to share with neighbors, friends, and family. He learned his great work ethic and deep respect of his elders from his maternal grandparents, the late Hubert and Ruth Hollifield, who he spent every summer and weekend with as a small boy and would eventually come to live with full time. Greg thought highly of his neighbors and friends, of whom he had known most of his life and was always quick to offer help and support when it was needed. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. His laugh was loud and infectious, and he laughed often. He loved all types of music, his favorite being classic country. He always referred to it as beer joint music and he knew every word to every song. When he wasn’t singing, he was whistling the last tune he heard.
Greg enjoyed spending early mornings on the front porch watching the sun rise, listening to the birds, and going on ride abouts on the parkway. He made quality time with his family a priority. Lyndsey would help him cook the evening meals, so he called her his sous-chef. Often conversations and laughter began in the kitchen would continue at the dining room table and would often last well past the end of dinner. Greg valued this time with his family and looked forward to it every day, as did they. Greg helped coach Riley’s ball teams, taught the girls to fish, went on family hikes and a million other things that created a father daughter bond that they will forever cherish. He was a loving, devoted, supportive father and husband who believed in his family and he will be forever missed.
Greg is survived by his loving wife and high school sweetheart, Leidonna Carol (Andrews) Roberts of 36 years and his cherished daughters Lyndsey Nichole Roberts and Riley Annelisse Roberts. He also leaves behind a brother, Max Daniel “Danny” Roberts (his wife Karen) and a sister Serena “Marissa” DeGroot as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
Family and friends will gather for a time of visitation from 2:00 until 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 11, 2026 in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, 72 Long Shoals Road in Arden.

Oh Ladonna I am so sorry to hear that Greg has passed. It truly breaks my heart. He was a true family man, friend and one of the hardest working man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Prayers to you and the girls and all of your family. 💔
Leidonna and Family – I was so heartbroken to hear of Greg’s passing. Our prayers have been with you all since we heard.
I can’t say I remember Greg, but with that said, though it’s been a while, I remember Leidonna. And I know I have always been fond of her and her friendship. With that, I know there was a bond between the two that can only spell the most purest of love stories.
I am saddened to hear the loss of part of that story. But that is not the end of the story. There is a wife and two daughters, who’s love will grow fonder through the memories of Greg’s life.
May God add a special blessing to this family and their grieving hearts.
Unreal! Good dude! Had not seen in a while. Prayers for family. RIP
If you can do these two things that I would have a home on the mountain working for him.
And in 13 years never was trust in me questioned. He was an outstanding man and I already miss him. Rest well Greg
Greg Loved you, his family, so much! Everything he did was for you guys. He was alot of things to alot of people and to me, he was my friend first, a coworker second, and he will be missed.

Greg was a great friend, mentor and coworker to me. Every Monday he would find me and we would talk about my daughters softball tournament from the weekend. I was fortunate to get to know him and he will be greatly missed.
You will never meet a more genuine person and I was so lucky to call Greg a friend. I sure miss you, buddy and will never forget you.
Leidonna, Lyndsey, and Riley—please know I pray for you daily. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Myself and the Foremost family are very sorry to hear about the passing of Greg. Since I first met Greg back in 2020, I truly enjoyed working with him. He became a friend and someone I always enjoyed talking with, because no matter the situation, you could count on him to make you laugh about something before hanging up.
Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts during this difficult time. If there is anything myself or the Foremost family can do, please do not hesitate to let us know.
When you were 1 year old and Leidonna was born your mother came to see us. She picked you up and held you over the crib and said “Greg, meet your wife”.
Well my love, the rest is history!
I will miss you and your ability to “bust my chops” which I always enjoyed as much as you did.
My deep condolences to Leidonna, Lyndsey and Riley, and the family. I am so sorry for your loss.
You will be missed, Greg!
I am so sorry for your loss! When I heard about it I couldn’t believe it. He always truly a person who was easy to love. I always looked forward when I saw him at the gas station or at Kevin’s. He would always cut up and put a smile on my face. He will truly be missed. We will be praying for for you and your family as time goes. As neighbors down the road if you all ever need anything we will be here for you.
Nick Reeves and family
Leidonna and girls, I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband and father. I pray that all the wonderful memories you’ve shared will bring you comfort and peace in the coming days.
Greg had a lot of knowledge and common sense to share but was never a know it all. And we asked a lot of questions.
He was always willing to help even if we didn’t ask.
Cleaning snow off our driveway , always keeping the road in good condition and assisting beginners with gardening .
He was a true neighbor. He is missed.
Leidonna, Lindsey, and Riley,
My heart aches for you. Words feel so small in the face of such a profound loss. Greg was a man of tireless strength and unwavering dedication. A husband and father who poured his whole heart into his family, and a friend whose sincerity and loyalty ran deep. He showed up, worked hard, loved fiercely, and lived with quiet honor. The impact of his life is undeniable, and his absence leaves an immeasurable void. I pray you feel his love surrounding you always, find strength in the memories, and know that he will forever live on in your hearts and in the lives he so deeply touched.
For me, I will miss our long talks, great stories, so so many laughs, and the pranks we pulled on each other. I hope that make you smile, as it makes me smile. Miss you already my buddy, my friend! Love you BIG!
I knew Greg since 2006 when I first started with distribution construction. He was very helpful especially in teaching me how to do a job the way it was supposed to be done. I am thankful to him because he helped me to be in the position I am in at foremost. He was a honest man with a good heart. He was patient with me when I first started working and when I wasn’t as experienced. I will miss Greg, he was truly a great friend to me. He had a good heart. My condolences go out to his family. I am very sorry for your loss.
