Gregory Thomas McDonald, 48, of 40 Weaver Rd., Weaverville, died on Sunday, May 6, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Tampa, FL. A New York native, Mr. McDonald was a son of Thomas McDonald, and his wife, Ora Fay Crane, of Spring, TX, and Rayma Carey Diamond, and her husband, Robert, of Jupiter, FL. Mr. McDonald worked as a self-employed construction contractor. He loved to fish and ride his Harley Davidson. He will be remembered as a good husband and father. Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife of 23 years, Vicki; daughters, Nicole Lynn McDonald, of Asheville, and Brittney Marie McDonald, of Weaverville; son, Zachery Thomas McDonald, of Asheville; sister, Colleen Griffiths and husband Ray, of Weaverville, brother, Jeffrey McDonald, of Laurel, MT; one expected grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Don Welborn officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
