Woodfin ~ Guy Worley, 69, went to be with Jesus on December 9, 2004. He was a native of Madison County and longtime resident of the town of Woodfin, which he helped to incorporate. He also served in the United States Marine Corp. He was the son of the late Marvin and Bonnie Worley and was preceded in death by three brothers, Clennon, Wayne and Clarence and five sisters, Gaye, Beulah, Edith, Edna and Marie. Surviving are his wife Lucille Worley; two daughters, Robin Worley and Charlene Hendl, and her husband Gary Hendl; three brothers, Clay, Vestie and the Reverend Ed Worley and one granddaughter Almeria Rose Hendl. A funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, with the Reverend Ed Worley officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Asheville High School Marine Junior ROTC unit. The family will be at the Home of Charlene Hendl at 52 Creekside Drive in Fletcher. In lieu of flowers, contributions towards funeral expenses may be made to the family via Groce Funeral at Lake Julian, 72 Long Shoals Road, Arden, NC, 28704.

  5. I just leard of Guy’s passing from the obituaries in this morning’s paper (Friday, December 10), and so will not be able to attend the services.
    I am sad to hear of Guy’s passing, as I have known him for more than 40 years.

    My condolences, prayers, and best wishes to Lucille, Robin and Charlene and all the family.
