Gwendolyn Edwards Bordner, 89, formerly of Battery Park Apartments, Asheville, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002. Mrs. Bordner was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Gwyn Edwards and Annie Mae Clark Edwards Duncan. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Shirley B. Hall. She was a member of the First Alliance Church. She is survived by a sister, Mary Duncan Woolley of St. Petersburg, FL; a brother, Gwyn Edwards of Asheville; and four grandchildren, David H. Becker, Jr. of Key Largo, FL, Timothy Becker and his wife Rebecca of Asheville, Kelly Schultz and her husband Steve of Atlanta, and Stacey Hall of Raleigh; five grandchildren, Luke Becker, Sarah Becker, Abigail Becker and Caleb Becker of Asheville and Hannah Schultz of Atlanta. Funeral services will be 4:00 pm Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and request that memorials be made to First Alliance Church, 12 S. French Broad Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801.

  1. Gynn was one of the sweetest person I have ever known, in church she help me a lot, I will always remember her wanting me to bring her a yule log from the dairy to her apartment at christmas time

  2. she was a very nice and sweet woman and will surely and sadly be be missed. she is now with jesus and not in pain .

  3. I don’t know Eleanor. But I recently picked up a used book with her name and address in it. I am in CT.
    I pray this book “Not my will”, will help me too.
