Hattie Lee Roland-Cantrell, 62, of Asheville, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at her residence. Born in Yancey County to the late Frank and Oredia Young Roland, she worked for Buncombe County DSS, served in the USAF during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of The Rock Church. Hattie was a selfless person who went out of her way to help others. She was a dedicated volunteer in church related activities and had a special place in her heart for her dog, Mr. Wiggles. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by a son, Thomas Andre Kling and sisters, Drucilla Young and Rosalyn Roland. Survivors include her husband, Tony Cantrell; son, Edward Antonio Kling of Asheville; daughters, Tamra, Kelly, Kamryn and Karynne Kling all of Asheville; grandchildren, Rashad, Tasha, Jordan Kling, Darius Cunningham and Lily Cruz; two great grandchildren; brother, Alden Roland, sisters, Frances Hall and Regina Hall all of Asheville. A funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at The Rock Church. Revs. Kirk Bowman and Doug Waterson will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hope Women's Cancer Center, 100 Ridgefield Court, Asheville, NC, 28806, or to The Rock Church Kingdom Builders, 273 Monte Vista Road, Candler, NC, 28715. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.

SO saddened to hear of Hattie’s passing. we grew up together along with her sisters Frances and Regina.I remember going to Oreida’s and she would have homemade cake and staying at their house for hours She was such a happy person with the biggest smile, will miss her.May the Lord Bless each of you during this difficult time
