Hermie Morrow Phillips, 91, of 55 Stradley Mountain Rd., Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 20, 2008, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. Mrs. Phillips was born in Haywood Co., and was a daughter of the late Tom and Mary Owen Morrow. She was also preceded in death by a son, Willie Lee Phillips, Jr.; seven brothers, and one sister. She was a member of First Church of Nazarene. Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband of 66 years, the Rev. Willie Lee Phillips, Sr.; daughter and son-in-law, Mary P. Sizemore and husband Gene, of Clyde; two grandsons, the Rev. Jennings Sizemore and wife Tammi, of Canton, and Brian Sizemore and wife Shaundra, of Canton; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Justin Sizemore; and a number of nieces of nephews. The funeral service for Mrs. Phillips will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Phillip M. Hurst and Johnny Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Gene Sizemore, Jennings Sizemore, Brian Sizemore, Jim Odom, Harold Herren, and Floyd Austin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
