Herve Dean, 68, of Park Lane, Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 8, 2001, after a long battle with kidney and heart disease. He was a loving father and husband who will be greatly missed.

A native of Graham County, he was born April 21, 1933, to the late William Leonard and Dora Jenkins Dean. He served in the US Army Spec. 3 and Medics and was a retired foreman with D.O. Creasman Construction after 29 years of employment.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Christine Hamilton Dean; one daughter, Tina Parker of Candler; one granddaughter, Brooklyn Parker; one sister and brother-in-law, Wilma Dean and Donald Stinnette of Bessemer City; five nephews, two nieces, and twelve great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Pittman officiating. Lawrence Henson, former employer and long-time family friend will also share at the funeral.

Immediately following the service Mr. Dean will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military honors provided by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team.

His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Patient Services Fund, 10 McDowell Street, Asheville, NC 28801.
