It is with great sadness that the family of Hilda Hipps Corn of Arden, NC announces her passing on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the age of 93 years. Hilda passed peacefully in her home with her family by her side. She joins her husband, Harvey Everette Corn, Sr, in eternal glory.
Hilda will be fondly missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Harvey Everette Corn, Jr and Sylvia Blankenship Corn, granddaughters Heather Lee Corn and Hilary Evette Corn, great-granddaughter Alana Lee Theede, siblings Ray Hipps, Kathleen Hipps Gooch, and Inez Hipps Owenby, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Everette Corn, Sr, and three siblings, Charles Hipps, Mary Hipps Murray, and Herman Hipps.
Hilda was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, always doting on those that she loved. A lifelong Asheville native, she was born on September 11, 1924 in West Asheville. On April 20, 1924, she married the love of her life, Harvey Corn and they started their life together in Arden, NC shortly afterwards. Hilda was an avid seamstress and worked at Stencel Aeroengineering for many years. She also loved to design clothes, sew, garden, and cook, as well as read and listen to music in her spare time.
The Corn family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff at Four Seasons Compassion for Life for all of their help and support in her final days.
A private family memorial is planned for a later date.
We are so sorry to hear of Hilda’s passing. Remembering Hilda and Harvey now, we pray for those left to deal with their grief.
Everette,I am sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom,she and your Dad will always be two people I will remember from my childhood.I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
