Horace David Moore, 90, of Fairview, died Saturday, May 12, 2001 at his home. A native of Buncombe County, he retired from Beacon Manufacturing in 1972 after 39 years. He was the son of the late Samuel and Laura Guffey Moore. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Boyce, John, Boyd, Frank, Harold, Hadley and sister Lillian. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beatrice Wheelon Moore; two daughters and their husbands, Betty and Horace Marlowe, Frances and James Dill; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife Jamie and Freida Moore of Seneca, SC; and several nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be missed by his family and many friends. He truly loved the Lord and his church, Nesbitt's Chapel United Methodist of which he was a member. He also was a great fan of basketball and fishing. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Nesbitt's Chapel with the Revs. Barry Sutton and Robert Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with pallbearers being grandsons and nephews. His family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue where the body will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Nesbitt's Chapel UMC, 50 Kirkpatrick Lane, Fairview, NC 28730 or to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

It will be hard not having Horace here, but you know he is in heaven with his Lord and is having a wonderful time.
