Inez Ferree Horton

Inez Ferree Horton, 94, of 102 Holcombe Cove Road, Candler, formerly of Vermont Court, Asheville, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, in an Asheville hospital.
Mrs. Horton was a native of Franklinville, Randolph County, NC, and was the oldest child of the late William R. and Nancy Jordan Ferree. She had lived in the Asheville area since 1926 and she was married to W.C. Horton who died in 1977.
Mrs. Horton was a former employee of Central Bank and Trust Co. until 1930, and afterwards by several insurance companies. For the last sixteen years of her employment life she served as Audit Clerk for the Southeastern Forest Experiment Station, US Forest Service. She was a member and former Church Clerk of Calvary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for more than 50 years. She was also active in W.M.U. organizations as well as member of other church related organizations.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Savides and her husband John of Charlottesville, VA; one son, William F. Horton and his wife Carla of Asheville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin officiating.
Her family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service and request that memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 531 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

I had the pleasure of working with Inez several times as her VHP nurse. So sorry to hear of your loss. She was a remarkable woman.
I considered Inez one of my fondest friends at Pisgah Villa, and I always enjoyed the many years of friendly and exceptional service of her son, Bill. Inez will be missed.

Dear Nancy & Bill, So sorry to hear of Inez’s death. Florence Cathey sent me the obit. I feel as ifpart of my past is gone. We always kept up through Christmas cards and I didn’t hear from her last year. Our sincerest condolences as we knew how proud she was of you both
