Guestbook

  1. So sorry for youe loss,Sharon and Sandra. I hope the fond memories of your Mom brings you peace and comfort during this time, Your Mom was a beautiful lady.

  2. I remember my Aunt Iva Jean as the kindest and sweetest woman. I enjoyed, as a child from CT, our visits to Albert and Iva Jean’s home during the summers in the 70’s. My condolences. Much love. May she now rest peacefully… Jack Cassada

    • Thanks! I will always remember you as Jackie though! We had some good times when we were at the grandparents’ house. I remember dinner for the adults was in the dining room and the kids ate in the kitchen. I think a forkful of mashed potatoes took flight one time.

      • Wonderful childhood memories of visiting Asheville for sure. I do have the photo of us all posing on the porch steps at Grandparents house. I’m feeling especially sad today though… take care, be well… Jack

    • She truly enjoyed your visits. She may not have known who you were but she loved people to visit

      • Hi Sharon. She was wonderful. I can see her smile and hear her voice now from the 70’s. I retired recently and have time now. I was planning to visit Asheville soon… but bittersweet now … All the best

    • Jack, she enjoyed all your visits. She loved all of you so much. These were great memories from our early years. She in recent years talked about your mom and dad since she remembered the past better than the present.

  3. Iva Jean was a very special lady . I enjoyed being her seat mate when we traveled with the Seniors from West Asheville Baptist . She was always so appreciative of a visit when I would see her at the nursing home.
The last couple of times, she didn’t know I was there. What a blessing that she has escaped that bed and is now rejoicing in the presence of her Lord and Savior . It’s hard to lose a dear mother . You have my sympathy. Linda Laube

  4. Iva Jean was such a sweet person. I especially remember her soothing prayers for our son in the hospital as
he faced a difficult procedure. She was able to calm him right down as she prayed over him. We’ll never forget this.

  5. What a great friendship we had over the years. Beginning in 1964 . Vacationed together , Attended Church together, Many great memories with our families. After Albert (2000) and Talmadge(2004) passed away, we became our own caregivers as neighbors across the street. We began a friendship of looking out for each other. Many memories with our families.
Sharon, Sondra and families, My prayers are for peace and comfort as you face the Days ahead. Bill sends his love to your Families.

    • Thank you for your kind words. Vacationing with your family was always fun and Talmadge had a way of keeping us laughing.

  6. Sharon and Sondra,
I am sorry to learn of your Mom’s passing. I know the death of a parent is a normal part of life processes, but it leaves a special void in our hearts. I remember both your Mom and Dad as warm and welcoming people who are part of the great memories I have of your family.

  7. Such sad news ! Aunt Iva Jean was a special woman and I’m flooded with so many memories of happy times at mamas and papaws home as well as many overnights at her home. The Paynes were second family and provided me with not only life memories but life lessons in faith, kindness, love of family . May she now rest in peace with her beloved Uncle Albert, hope she gave mom and dad the biggest hugs that I always remember she was good at giving

  8. I was saddened to hear of your Mom’s passing, but then there is some rejoicing in her passing too. I truly enjoyed the passing talks l had with your Mom on the Sunday’s at West Asheville Baptist Church. She was such a sweet woman who was a joy to fellowship with. She is now in the presence of our Lord.
