Jackson Blane Hutchinson, 80, formerly of Candler, died Saturday, January 1, 2005, at the Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital in San Antonio, TX. He had battled complications from a fall at home December 14 causing five broken ribs. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Arvel Hutchinson and Sallie McFee. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Penland Hutchinson. Jack retired in 1986 from BASF Corporation at Enka where he was employed as a security guard. Prior to that he served as a Buncombe County deputy sheriff. He had served with the US Coast Guard during WW II and in later years he and his wife Mary were active in the Dahlia Society. He had been a longtime member of the National Rifle Association and loved hunting, fishing and NASCAR racing. He had resided in Uvalde County, TX since May, 1996. Surviving are three sisters, Mildred McCall and Thelma Parton of Candler and Myrtle Broyles of Georgia; two sons Edward Hutchinson of Uvalde County, TX and David Hutchinson of Raleigh; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
