Arden, NC – Jacquelyn “Jackie” Rose Boone, 81, of Arden, died Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Mission Hospital.
A native of Mitchell County, Jackie was the daughter of the late Lamar and Wilma Johnson Rose. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Woody.
Jackie taught 2nd and 3rd grade for 38 years at Oakley Elementary. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Appalachian State University, her Master’s from Western Carolina University and enjoyed teaching Sunday School at various churches.
Jackie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Ronald Boone; one daughter, Jennifer Bartholomew (Joe) of Hendersonville; one son, Tim Boone (Mindy) of Mills River; two brothers, Paul Rose of Morganton and David Rose of Spruce Pine; four grandchildren, Cooper and Chase Boone and Lauren and Gage Bartholomew as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday August 29, 2024 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Reverend Roger Rearden officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A Graveside Service will follow the funeral at 2:00 PM at Lily Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Mitchell County.
In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that you consider making a contribution in Jackie’s memory to Long Shoals Baptist Church.
