James D. Boring

James D. Boring, 78, passed away on October 3, 2016 at Brookdale Walden Ridge in Asheville. Mr. Boring was born on May 30, 1938 in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late James Benjamin Boring and Pearl Catherine Pruner. After graduating from Mississippi State University, he played minor league baseball for the Philidelphia Phillies. He worked in the transportation industry for many years while being an avid outdoorsman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn McCraney Boring who died in April of this year. As well as, a brother Michael Boring of Johnson City, Tennessee. He is survived by three daughters, Melissa Boring of Portland Oregon, Cathy Hoosier (Kerry) of Tryon, N.C and Susan Jastram (Robert) of Frankfurt, Germany. Additionally, he is survived by five grandchildren Sarah Jastram, Hannah Jastram, Kyle Jastram, Katie Hoosier and Emma Hoosier. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family. Services will be private.

  3. Jim old friend you taught me the world of LTL trucking, how to treat customers who would become my lifelong friends. You engraved memories of bass fishing, golf and taught me how to play Chicago HILO. I will always be indebted for putting me under your wing. Now fish bite often and you never wait on a t-time. Say hello to my mom and dad and yall talk about me. I will look for your ray of sunshine on my face
