James Edgar Hall, 77, of 20 Lower Glady Fork Road, Candler, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at his home after a long illness.
Mr. Hall was born November 5, 1925, in Buncombe County and was preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Anna Mae Ford Hall, a brother, Charles Hall, a sister Georgia Hall Queen, and by a grandson, Keith Aaron Swafford. He was an Army veteran of WW II and was retired from the Buncombe County Board of Education School Maintenance Department after 30 years.
He is survived by his wife Dean Morgan Hall; two daughters, Emma Swafford and her husband Tommy of Candler and Linda White and her husband Eddie of Arden; two sons, Steve Hall of Candler and Jeff Hall of the home; three grandchildren, Travis Swafford of San Francisco, CA, and Stasha Hall and Nikki Swafford of Candler; five sisters, Hazel Satterfield and her husband Robert, Joann Gallamore and her husband Wayne, June Smith and her husband C.R. (Spook), Fredrice Cummings and her husband Billy Ray of Vidalia, LA, and Sue Smith and her husband Sammy; one brother, Arville Hall and his wife Betty Jo, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Thursday at White Rock Baptist Church with the Revs. Greg Metcalf, Cecil Fox, and Louis Gibson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

James was nice man. He has been my brother in law over 50 years and a friend all my life. He will be missed by all. My heart goes out to Sister and family. Love you all.
