James Edwin Herren, 84, died Sunday, May 22, 2016, at the Asheville Specialty Hospital.
Born in Buncombe County, he was the son of the late John and Laura Rogers Herren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lee Herren (2008) and a daughter, Janet Faye Herren.
Mr. Herren served in the US Army during the Korean War and he was retired from American Enka.
His family includes his current wife, Marina Ruiz Herren; daughters, Judith Herren and Kathy Russell; grandchildren, DuWayne, Brody, Casey, and Alexis Herren; great-grandson, Colby Herren; and sisters, Faye Penland and Vera Tow.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Faye Penland officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
