Uncle Floyd was of, as Stephen Ambrose named them, the Greatest Generation. We owe so much of what we have today to these brave Americans and the sacrifices they made in fighting tyranny during WW2.
After my father’s early death, Uncle Floyd acted as a father figure. I remember him taking me to fly my model airplanes in City Park like it was yesterday. I remember him kicking away water moccasins with his hipboots, or just flinging them by their tails while crawfishing in Manshac! Trips to Audubon Park and Pontchartrain Beach pools for swimming were always a blast.
What a man for a young boy to look up to! It’s no wonder my father and he were best of friends. Floydy Boy is gone, but his memories will always be with those so fortunate to have known and loved him.
Susan, Judy, Aunt Shirley and all of your family, you have our deepest sympathy on the passing of such a wonderful man. I know I will be talking to him when I’m miles offshore, during one of those magical times when I speak with God and all of His creation.
Yes Uncle Floyd I am stll eating rice, cucumbers & vinegar. You will be in my prayers. Love you
Dear John and Judy – So sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
DEAR JUDY,
SALLY E-MAILED ME ABOUT YOUR FATHER. I WOULD LIKE TO EXTEND MY
DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. YOU WILL BE IN MY PRAYERS.
SINCERELY,

My family , the Delatte’s. My brother Bob put into words, feelings , I , will only repeat. We have lost parts of ourselves never to be replaced. Uncle Floyd was vital in the development of many, but took special interest in us. His opinions and views about issues were never ignored. His intent in every move was for the good. Simply put a solid act, and one hard to follow. My brother and I loved him as we did our own father. Many days we were together , just to shoot the breeze , and drink coffee. ”CDM”From French Settlement to North Carolina , and will be missed here in Louisiana. God bless this loss. Keith, Laurie, Jaimie , and Dustin Dampier

Grandpa was a great grandpa. I miss him a lot. I remember when he always used to give me ice cream, deserts, and much more. Once he gave me a pocket knife and then a few days later, he said,’Hey! You can’t be playing with that thing! You could get hurt!’ And then he took it away from me. Then, somehow I ended up with it in the end.He taught me how to do some stuff like how to crawl, and much more. I remember how he used to do some really cool coin tricks and how he used to hide things and tried to make me find them. That was fun! He lived for teasing, he always used to to tease me until I got mad. I will miss Him a lot and never forget him. Your great-
grandson, Keaton Roberts.
My dearest daddy,
My words could never convey the love I have for you. You were the wind beneath our wings. There was NEVER a time when anything was asked of you that you could not or would not do. All that you desired from us was our company, never what we could do for you in return, and we would always, without fail, see your smiling face whenever you saw us at your door. I will never forget what an exceptional dad I had and what an extraordinary grandfather and great grandfather you were. Here in Asheville, there is plenty of wind and I know what wind will be yours beneath our wings. Our Love eternal.
Dear PawPaw, I miss you already! You were the light of my life. Your spirit now is all around us although I still feel a bit of emptiness in my heart. Peter told me today that he misses you and misses playing with you. He hopes you are having a good time in heaven. I love you and will think of you every day!!
Grandpa, you were the magic in my life. How I looked forward to hearing your keys in the door when you’d come home from work. Waiting for your special magic coin tricks, bike rides to City Park, riding over the Tickle Bridge with you. Too many memories to mention. You did everything selflessly and with love. You only wanted our company. It was so hard to let you go, but I know where you are now, and it’s a better place. You’ll always be my guardian angel and when I see butterflies, I’ll forever think of you. I’ll miss you terribly and thank God I had you for as long as I did. Your Queenie, Rachelle
Dear Judy & Susan: Your Dad was so well respected as a Husband,Father, Soldier,Uncle,Friend and Advisor. He will be missed by many but never forgotten.Frank,Jimmie,Charlie,Mac,Joe,all of the brothers-in-laws are in a special place in Heaven. May they all rest in eternal peace. Terry Hand and Family
