James Harland Gasperson

A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Gasperson was a son of the late Francis Emory Gasperson and Hester Mae Gibson Gasperson and the husband of Hazel Elizabeth Alexander Gasperson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Iris Dianne Owen who died in 1991, a sister, Bertha Owenby, and two brothers, Lester F. Gasperson and Dennis Gasperson.

Mr. Gasperson was a World War II Navy veteran and retired as a superintendent from H. M. Rice Construction Company in 1980. He was of the Christian Church faith.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Gasperson is survived by four daughters, Sandra G. Wright and her husband, Tom of Asheville, Jeanette Wright and her husband, Dave, Nina Bennett and her husband, Johnny, and Denise McFalls and her husband, Terry, all of Arden; a son, Keith H. Gasperson and his wife, Susie of Arden; a sister, Effie Graham of Arden; a brother, Lonnie Gasperson of Arden; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted Friday, September 28 at 3:00 PM at Averys Creek Christian Church Cemetery with Preacher John Merritt officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road.
