James Hubert McMinn, Jr., 83, of Candler, died on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at the NC State Veterans Home.
A native of Henderson Co., Mr. McMinn was a son of the late James H., Sr., and Sue Mehaffey McMinn. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anne Davis McMinn, who died in 2009, and brothers, David and John McMinn.
Mr. McMinn retired from Dorato Dodge, where he worked as an auto mechanic. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea.
Mr. McMinn is survived by his daughter, Lisa Ann Torrey and husband Darrel; step-son, Rev. Ricky Bowen and wife Alana; sisters, Annie Sue Blythe and Nancy Swayngim; brothers, Bob, Tom, Billy, Donald and Dennis McMinn; and granddaughters, Meredith, Caelyn and Brynllee Bowen.
A funeral service for Mr. McMinn will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Nelson Ponder officiating. The family will receive friends following the service until 8:00 p.m.
Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
