James Robert Morgan

James Robert 'Jim' Morgan, 62 of 24 Hartshorn Drive, Candler, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, in the Hospice Solace Center.

Mr. Morgan was a Senior Member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and was also certified in CNC Operations from EMCO/Maier Corp.  He was currently working on his undergraduate study through Western Carolina University.  He was a retired Machine Instructor and outstanding faculty member of McDowell Technical College.

He was a beloved family member of Zephyr Hills Free Will Baptist Church and a member of the Candler Lions Club.

Mr. Morgan was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Phillip Ernest and Hattie Williams Boyd and step-son of the late Flora Hyatt Morgan.  He was the former co-owner with his father of Hominy Valley Feed and Seed.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Bennett Morgan;  two sons, James 'Jamie' Morgan and his wife Sherri of Asheville and Jonathan 'Jody' Morgan of Candler, currently residing in Charleston, SC;  four sisters, Barbara Zachary of Arden, Becky Ouderkirk of Flat Rock, Joyce Gunter of Hendersonville, Teressa Pennington of Waynesville;  and two brothers, Paul Morgan of Asheville and Phillip Morgan of Candler.  He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Scott Morgan, a brother, Charles Morgan, and a sister, Marie Robinson.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Walley officiating.  Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence.
