Arden~ James Stough Layton, 86, of Arden, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 3, 2009. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

Jim was a sweet gentle soul that will be sorely missed by his wife and family. He showed people how to live an upright moral life by his daily example.His grandchildren Josh,Michele and Sean and great grandson Ryan were definitely a major light of his life and will always be a special part of their lives. Thank you for being a special part of my life Jim and helping me always to see the good in others.
Mr. Layton was a very precious person. I always looked forward to seeing him at his visits with us.What a sweet couple. Mrs. Layton, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
