Jamie Leigh Drown

January 10, 1979 ~ May 30, 2007
Resided in:
Candler, NC
Jamie Leigh Drown, 28, of Candler, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
Born in Newark, OH, she was a resident of Candler, NC, and was the daughter of William and Gloria Drown, of Candler.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her sister, April Wise and husband Jeff, of Candler; brother, Matthew Drown and wife Kim, of Asheville; “soul sister,” Amber Toney, of Pataskala, OH; grandfather, William A. Drown of Hendersonville; aunts and uncles, Linda and Dale Stephens of Hendersonville, Tom and Marie Chenoweth of Lansdowne PA, Nancy Kinard of Goose Creek, SC, Patty Rensch of Newark, OH, Rusty and Lori Chenoweth of Goose Creek, SC, Judy Toney and husband Dale of Pataskala, OH, Kay Williams of New Castle, PA; three nephews, Brandon William Wise, Brodyn Michael Wise, and Isaac Benjamin Drown; and many cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, maternal grandparents, and our Brian.
Her smile was contagious, and her wit and sense of humor uniquely hers. Family came first, as her greatest concern was that her nephews might forget her. Anyone who knew her knows that would be impossible.
Jamie never met a stranger and her friends were plentiful. “Our Sunshine” will never be forgotten.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center, Cancer Care of WNC, and the St. Joseph’s Campus Mission Hospitals Oncology Floor.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Chaplain Jane Curran officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-3:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted and appreciated.

I’m very sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Jamie and only knew her a short time, but she always made everyone laugh and was a very caring person. My prayers are with you
Jamie was a sweet soul. Caring, fun, always had a smile on her face. I will miss her.
I remember that she never had a bad thing to say about anyone. I remember that she loved her family.
She would come visit Linda and her boys and we would walk around the neighborhood for hours just talking, and laughing. I remember her jokes… She always had a way to make you smile no matter what you were going through.
She was a good friend to have, and my regret is that I never got to say goodbye.
I am so sorry for your loss. Jamie was a wonderful person and will be missed. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.
I am a friend of Amber Toney. I never met Jamie but through Amber’s eyes. To have a friend as true as these two girls seems unmeasurable. I told Amber that Jamie was the epidemy of strength beyond her years. We could all only be so lucky to have had her touch our lives. In some strange and distant way she has touched mine! You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
My thoughts and prayers go out to this wonderful family. Jamie was a very special person that touched alot of people. She will be missed greatly. If there is anything that I can do please let me know. Love you all!!

I knew Jamie and her family many years ago back in Ohio.
No words can express my deepest sorrow. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
I only knew Jamie a short while, but she made a big impact on my life. She had such a loving and supportive family and many friends. I hope the same can be said for me one day. I will miss her coming in the salon and giving her the short, wispy style she favored. My thoughts are that Jamie would like for us to remember her as the strong, proud and personable woman she was. God Bless your family.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers for peace during this time of loss.
We will always think of Jamie with a smile on our face. She brought that smile to us and to everyone she met. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We love you! Jamie told our children that she was going to be their guardian angel, we are glad to know that such a wonderful person is looking out for them.
When I think of Jamie I will always remember how much she loved her nephews. I used to love to watch her with Brody and you could see the love she had for him all over her. Jamie will be greatly missed! I hate I can’t be there with you today, we are out of town. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Please let me know if there is anything you need.
