Jean Morrow

Jean Morrow passed away on November 7, 2018 at the age of 95. She had been a resident of Givens Estates in Asheville for many years and moved to Hendersonville earlier this year. Born in Charleston, WV in 1923, Jean grew up in western PA, earned a BS degree in Dietetics from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland in 1945, and lived for many years in NJ before moving to WNC. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Scott, daughter Sally, and son Charlie. She is survived by her son Paul, of NJ. Jean described herself as an “intelligent, generous, and empathetic person, with a good sense of humor and an excellent memory”. Her self-assessment also included the words “impatient and sometimes fierce”. Those who knew her best saw a proud and compassionate woman, ready always to persist in an endeavor she believed to be just. These last characteristics are well expressed in a quote she appreciated: “Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow.’” Jean will be remembered and missed by many.
