Jerry Wayne Sharpe

Jerry Wayne Sharpe, 78, went home to be with his Lord September 8, 2018. He was a resident of Westminster, SC, and formerly of Candler, NC. Mr. Sharpe is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judith Shook Sharpe; three daughters, Janet Sharpe Jackson (Kevin), Jill Sharpe Myrick (Hurley), and Amy Sharpe Porter (Michael); 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Pat Sharpe and Charles Sharpe; and sisters Judith Lytle and Karen Porshia. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Gladys Elkins Sharpe, and by a brother, Van Sharpe. He graduated from Lee Edwards High School and attended AB Tech Institute for 2 years. He served his country in the Navy aboard the USS Randolph for 4 years. Jerry worked as a tool and die maker, EDM operator and in maintenance. He retired from the Kendall Corp. in 2009 in Seneca, SC. He was a carpenter and did woodworking. His favorite hobby was fishing. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Nelson officiating and Mr. Chris Roberts providing the music. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
