Jesse Turner Ross, 90, passed away on Thursday, February 16th, at his residence.
He was born in Buncombe County to the late Jesse Hilton and Emma Turner Ross. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Nell Snoddy, and brother, Cecil Ross
Mr. Ross, at age 80, retired from Dreamland Convenient Store on South Tunnel Road. He was a charter member of East Asheville United Methodist Church and a veteran of WWII and Korea serving in the US Navy. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #70.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Ann Beam Ross; one son Lee Barrett and his wife Patsy, of Asheville; two daughters, Ginny Barrett and William Broadus of Asheville, and Kathy Crowder and her husband, Tommy, of Etowah; grandchildren, Robbie Barrett and his wife Lee, Sarah Harrison and her husband, Charlie, Amanda Wright, Elizabeth Barrett, Tonya Deweese and her husband, Chuck, Alicia Harbison and her husband, Richie, and Tabitha Hooker and her husband, Alec; and 7 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 1:00 at East Asheville UMC with the Revs. Doug Benton and Annalee Allen officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4 – 6 pm at Groce Funeral Home, Tunnel Road. Burial will be at the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain.

Jesse was a very special man. We were so glad to have him as a part of our family. He loved Ann so much and we were blessed to know him.
