Mr. Corn was born in Buncombe County and was a son of Louise Walker Corn Johnston of Arden and the late Clyde Corn. He was a four year veteran of the US Marine Corps. He attended Long Shoals Baptist Church. He was owner of C & J Enterprises and was a former volunteer with the Skyland Fire Department. He was President of the Avery’s Creek Trail Riders Club and Wagon Master of Avery’s Creek Wagon Train. He was also past-president of Avery’s Creek Community Club.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Cherry Brown Corn; three daughters, Pamela Cook and her husband Robert and Andrea Trotter and her husband Tim, all of Arden, and Nanette Corn of the home.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Tuesday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, with the Revs. Roger Rearden and Cowles Bristol officiating. Burial will be at Roberts Memorial Park.His family will receive friends at the funeral home, 72 Long Shoals Road one hour prior to the service and request that memorials be made to Long Shoals Baptist Church,661 Long Shoals Road, Arden, NC 28704.
I WAS SHOCKED AND VERY SADENED TO SEE THE NEWSPAPER CLIPPING OF JOELS PASSING. MY SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY. I WORKED MANY YEARS WITH JOEL AT BLUE RIDGE TRUCKING.
