John David Medling, Jr., 75, of Asheville, died Friday, March 8, 2002, at a local hospital.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late John David Medling, Sr. and Lelia Pressley Medling. Mr. Medling attended UNC-Chapel Hill and worked as a manager at S.H. Kress Company. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and a member of Glady Branch Baptist Church in Brevard.
Survivors include a special friend, Lucy White; a daughter, Susan Sansosti and her husband Jim of Brevard; a son, David Gary Medling and his wife Patsy of Brevard; a brother, Donald E. Medling of Asheville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Monday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with the Reverend Ed Krawczyk officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 pm Monday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue before leaving for the cemetery.

My sincere sympathy to you. I will remember David who has been in my prayers for many months. Hopefully, he is with Clyde and they have a good bridge game going.
