John J. Short, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Short will be at 10:00 am Thursday, July 9, 1998, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, where he was a member.  The Rev. Andy Latsko will officiate with full military rites provided by the Buncombe COunty Veterans Council Memorial Team.

Mr. Short was an agent for Home Beneficial Life Insurance, and with his wife, Catherine, operated Cathey’s Kitchen.  He also operated the City Hall Snack Bar.

He was a charter member of the Catholic War Veterans, a life member of the DAV and the American Legion.  He had more than 15,000 volunteer hours with the VA Medical Center..

He is survived by three daughters, Debra Pritchard, Sherry Miller, and Penny Bright;  four sons, Daniiel Short, John Short, Larry Short, and Steven Short.
