John Solomon Kinser

John Solomon “Jay” Kinser, 90, formerly of West Asheville died Friday, September 19, 2003. A native of Athens, TN, he was a son of the late John S. and Alice Riley Kinser and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Kinser Quinn. During WWII he worked as a welder for a California shipyard and was retired in 1978 from Kinco Corp. He loved to hunt and fish and formerly attended Sunday School at Grace Baptist Church. Mr. Kinser is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Orr Kinser; a grandson, Scott Edwin Quinn of Orlando, FL; great-granddaughter Brook Quinn; several nieces and nephews including Robert C. Kinser and his wife Cathryn of Asheville and Mary Ann Huffaker and her husband Shane of TN. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at Grace Baptist Church with the Reverend Richard Baird officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 1:30-2:00 pm Saturday at the church prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 718 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
