John Wallace Worley, 92, of 3495 Asheville Highway, Pisgah Forest, NC, died Friday, February 4, 2000, at his home.

Mr. Worley was born in Haywood County and was a son of the late Robert Clay and Hattie Bradburn Worley. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Worley and three brothers, Rupert, Dennis and Ross Worley.

He had lived in Transylvania County since 1946 where he operated a general store on the Asheville highway.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth King Worley; a son, Max Worley of Pisgah Forest; two grandsons, Michael and Keith Worley; three great-grandsons, Chris, Jake and David Worley; two step-great-grandsons, Patrick and Benjamin Smith; two great-granddaughters, Elisha and Summer Worley; one great-great-granddaughter, Sarah Tucker; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. James Burress and Ralph Banning officiating. Burial will be at Paynes Chapel Cemetery, Sandy Mush, Leicester.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
