John William Miller, 94, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at the Charles George VA Medical Center.
A native of Kane, PA, Mr. Miller was a son of the late James and Leona Miller, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ida Miller, in 2012.
Mr. Miller served in the European Theatre with the Army Air Corps during WW II, and was an aerospace engineer with Boeing. He was a member of the Lions Club and attended New Life Community Church.
Surviving are his sons, Thomas S. Miller (Kristi) and Richard E. Miller (Shirley), eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at New Life Community Church, 1417 Riverside Drive, Asheville, with the Rev. Mark Carlson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, prior to the service.
Interment with military honors will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
John was a sweet, smart friend and we enjoyed his company while he lived @ Pisgah Retirement. We liked hearing of his war experiences and missed him when he left. He loved his sons and their wives.
