Josie Lee Rice of Woodfin, died Thursday, May 13, 2004, in an Asheville hospital. Mrs. Rice was born in Madison County and was a daughter of the late Alexander and Agnes Bishop Rice. She was a retired seamstress and a member of Richland Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, James Rice; one daughter, Marsha Allen Teague and her husband Randy of Asheville; two sisters, Betty Fox of Arden and Jean Roberts of Weaverville; a brother, Richard Rice of Asheville; two grandchildren, Ryan Teague and Rachel Sheehan; two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Caleb Sheehan. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Travis Harrison and T.A. Holder, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Lewis Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Richard Rice, Jr., David Roberts, Jr., Daryl Roberts, Ryan Teague, Forrest Sheehan, Gunne Davis and Trevor Gibbs. Her family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 pm Saturday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of James Rice.
