Julius Monivill Cogdill, 101, of Asheville, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Livine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. A native of Jackson Co., he was a son of the late Herchel and Julia Lindsey Cogdill. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lela Benfield Cogdill; a son, Harold L. Cogdill; and a grandson, Ronnie West. Mr. Cogdill retired from the Enka Corp. He served in the National Guard Reserves, and was a member of Enka Baptist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Sue Greene and her husband, Roger, of Charlotte; grandchildren Sharon, Penny, Rusty, and Julie; great-grandchildren Timmy, Michael, and Nicole; and great-great grandchildren Kaylie and Jacob. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 28, 2012, at Enka Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Brown and the Rev. Richard Kinsland officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Enka Baptist Church, PO Box 219, Enka, NC 28728. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
