Kate Dover Golden

Kate Dover Golden, 92, of 3 Miramar Dr., Asheville, died Monday, February 25, 2008, at her residence. A native of Buncombe Co., Mrs. Golden was a daughter of the late David and Margaret Lyda Dover. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Golden, who died in 1990; her sisters, Baby Elizabeth Dover, Violet Dover, Lucille Carol, Aelene McCarson; and her brothers, Charlie, Marvin, and James Dover. Mrs. Golden worked for 26 years at West Buncombe Elementary School as the lunch room manager. She was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church. She loved to read until her eyesight faded. Her greatest enjoyment was cooking. Kate was a wonderful, caring sister, always concerned and loving to her family. Mrs. Golden is survived by her sisters, Betty Hall, Roberta Radford (her caregiver), and Margaret Brown, all of Asheville; brothers, Jack Dover, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Robert Dover, of Candler. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev, Charlie Sams officiating. Interment will follow at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
