Kathleen Loucreta Lowe Coxie, 85, of Asheville, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2019.

A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Guy F. and Bertha Dickerson Lowe. She was also preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Rev. Charles Coxie, two daughters, Lynn Robbins (Everett) of Clinton, SC and Charlene Powers (Mike) of Mauldin, SC; five grandchildren, Nathan Rhew (Tricia) of Asheville, Dustin Powers (Katie) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Fran Cheeks (Marcus) of Clinton, SC, Sherrill Robbins of Greenville, SC and Logan Tucker (Dillon) of Joanna, SC; six great-grandchildren, Allyson Rhew, Noah Powers, Chloe Wilson, Mason Cheeks, Savannah Reeder and Novaleigh Tucker as well as several extended family and friends.

Kathleen will forever be cherished and remembered as a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend. As Pastor’s wife, she was a devoted and avid member of the Open Door Cathedral and church always came first in her life. She loved to sing, and did so for many years as a member of The Journeymen and Kathleen.

A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Open Door Cathedral at Foster Seventh day Adventist Church (375 Hendersonville Road in Asheville). Burial will be held at 2:00 PM at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 PM on Sunday, May 5 in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.

I’ve always admired her for her close walk with her Lord, her Godly life, her dedication to the church and her most beautiful voice. She will be missed so much by so many, know she now home with her parents & siblings she loved so. I can almost hear her singing in the choir and know it won’t be long untill we’ll be there with her to never be apart again. God’s comfort to each of her family I pray and Heaven is sweeter today…Amen.!!!

I loved her so, admired her Godly walk with the Lord, her faithfulness, her beautiful voice and the many times she would sang ” God Walks The Dark Hills” for me. Truly Heaven is sweeter now than before God took this “Rose ” from us. But we shall be there soon as our Jesus is coming for His Bride soon.

  10. Lord has another sweet saint at home! There are so many memories that Bruce and I have with Kathleen. My fondest is when as a teenager she came to me on Sunday asking if I wanted to go I tell altar. That is an image that forever lived in me til I finally accepted the Lord as Saviour. Bruce of course remembers traveling with them on the road. I also have her to thank for encouraging me about Bruce. Kathleen we miss you and looking forward to seeing you soon!

  11. I remember Mrs. Kathleen from their group, The Journeymen and Kathleen. I have great memories of services as a child. My parents were saved under their ministry. Mr. Charles and his family are in our prayers.

As a small child I have memories of Kathleen, always gracious and sweet, the voice of an Eagle but so tiny, she taught her girls the right values, when you pass from this earth you leave behind memories for your friends and love ones Kathleen’s journal is surely full, to her family I send love and prayers and to her in heaven I say a job well done.
