Kathleen Nary Cummins

Kathleen N. "Mickey" Cummins, 89, passed peacefully on April 13, 2012. She was born in Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, daughter of the late Maj. Gen. Joseph M. and Eileen D. Cummins. Born into a military family, Mickey lived in many places including China, Florida, Massachusetts and North Carolina. She had careers in education, teaching Middle School English and French, and also later became a Registered Nurse and worked in Florida and at St. Josephs Hospital in Asheville, NC. Mickey was preceded in death by her sister, Eileen C. Page, and three brothers, Joseph M. Cummins, Jr., Thomas D. Cummins and Robert J. Cummins. She is survived by three nephews and three nieces and their families: Tom Page of Newport News, VA, Sue Brenzel of Raleigh, NC, Nan May of Asheville, NC, Bob Page of Fayetteville, GA, Mary Jane Swindley of Bellevue, WA and Michael J. Cummins of Gig Harbor, WA. A Funeral Rite in celebration of Mickey's life will be held Wednesday, April 18 at 11 am at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Rd. with burial at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard. Family will greet friends and visitors immediately prior to the service. Special thanks to all of the dedicated staff at Givens Estates for their friendship, loving care and compassion.
