Kenneth Calvin Blewett, 67, of Fairview, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Care Partners Hospice. Born in, Lakeland, FL, he was a son of the late Calvin and Elnora Meadows Blewett. Mr. Blewett was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Vietnam conflict. At the age of 17 he was the youngest soldier to ever serve at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and he was a member of the Honor Guard serving at President John F. Kennedy's funeral. He was a real estate broker and a truck driver and was a member of Biltmore Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife Nancy Dampier Blewett; 3 sons, Casey McClellan of Quincy, FL, Patrick Cooper (Chrissy) of Hendersonville and Hubert Cooper (Christi) of Hendersonville; 7 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clarence Carroll Blewett (Margaret) of Knoxville, TN and Tommy Lamar Blewett (Lela) of Roanoke, VA. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 25 at 12:30 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road. Matt Goodman will officiate and burial will be in the Western North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. His family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Biltmore Church of Christ Food Pantry, 823 Fairview St., Asheville, NC, 28803.
